Eat Flowers Farm - Outdoor Mushroom Project
On our farm in Accord, NY we aim to mimic nature. If we can create an efficient system that has productivity and regularity with the least amount of energy input and disruption to the ecosystem, we all win. Our goal is to provide delicious, nutrient dense, food for our local community and be a resource for others looking to learn.
Early Shiitake Log Inoculations at Eat Flowers Farm
Eat Flowers Farm was founded by Kaya Stuart on the main principle of providing nutritious and delicious food for her local community and beyond. We hope to emanate a vision of conscious land use, and strive for sustainability in all that we do. In November of 2021 we started our (planned) exploration and expansion into outdoor mushroom cultivation, with the help of Luke Sarrantonio (Degree in Forest Biology and 12+ years of outdoor mushroom cultivation). The farm is growing quickly, with 550+ logs mushroom currently in production (as of Feb 2024). We grow mostly Shiitake, but are developing projects to work more with Reishi, Maitake, Laetiporus Nameko and others! We offer educational farm tours and workshops in the beautiful forest setting of our mushroom yard. We would love to hear from you!
